January 26th 2014 - Suggested Seed Starts

A few weeks ago we ordered our seeds, most have come in and those to be planted now are all in. We are ordering our direct planting seed currently. We use only Oganics, OP's and Heirlooms and some F1's. Why do we grow some F1 types.

First these are cross pollinated and can happen normally. They are not genetically enhanced or altered as some lacking the education on F1's believe or tell people. Second like evolution they pick up natural the selective traits resisting and protecting against some external diseases as a new strain. Anyone know the plant type in hand? Hint: Starts with a "P".

This week Jan 26th we start seeding indoors Certain Floral and Plant Annuals, Perennials, Herbs, Fruits, and Vegetables. We will tell you some, but not all that should be started now:

Vegetables: Artichoke, Celery, Leek, and Peppers.

Fruit: Cane and Ground Fruits

Annuals: Begonias, Gardenia, and others

We love to sell our plants as well as grow them through there maturity. We always grow extras for others to buy and try. We hope you enjoy our blogs and find them helpful. We are in Zone: 5A.

Thank you,
Ed Turner

Seeds Preps and Packaging 2014

    January 2014 - WWW.Local-Grown-Chelmsford-Ma.com   Blog #01               by: Ed Turner

Well here we are, winter 2014. I've initiated the easy part of our yearly en-devour of bringing fresh local grown flowers, vegetables, fruits, and herbs to local and surrounding communities.  Last year, I could not work at all do to uncontrollable issues. I've had to think about even continuing this side job. Because I can work at my own pace and my own hours it has been decided it is lucrative enough to forgo my dreams and enjoyment even if it becomes a break even investment and return as I must keep my mind going and treat this as a hobby.

So far all my seeds, growing materials, and packaging equipment with some additional office equipment has been completed. The physical part of starting seeds and growing begins this coming weekend. I urge you to follow my bulletins on growing and starting from seed. May you choose to grow with us. God bless and have fun.

Sincerely,
Ed Turner of Local Gown Chelmsford Ma
